Adding websites to your taskbar provides one-click access to your favorite web applications. The process varies slightly depending on your browser. Here's how to do it for major browsers.
Using Microsoft Edge
Edge offers a built-in feature for pinning sites to the taskbar:
- Navigate to the website you want to pin.
- Click the Settings and more menu (three dots ...) in the top-right corner.
- Hover over More tools.
- Select Pin to taskbar.
- Confirm by clicking Pin in the prompt.
Note: This installs the site as a Progressive Web App by default.

Using Google Chrome
Chrome requires using its taskbar pinning option:
- Open the website in Chrome.
- Click the Customize and control Google Chrome menu (three dots ...) top-right.
- Navigate to More tools > Create shortcut....
- Check the box labeled Open as window.
- Click Create. This creates a shortcut on your desktop.
- Right-click the new desktop shortcut and select Pin to taskbar.
- Delete the desktop shortcut if desired.
Using Mozilla Firefox
Firefox doesn't have a direct pin option, but you can use the site icon method:
- Open the website in Firefox.
- Click and hold the site icon (padlock) in the address bar.
- Drag this icon directly to your desktop. Release to create a shortcut.
- Right-click the desktop shortcut and choose Pin to taskbar.
- Delete the desktop shortcut afterwards if not needed.
Using Alternative Browsers (Opera, Brave, Vivaldi, etc.)
Most Chromium-based browsers (like Opera, Brave, Vivaldi) follow the Chrome method:
- Open the site in your browser.
- Access the browser menu (usually three dots or lines).
- Look for More tools and then Create shortcut....
- Ensure Open as window is checked.
- Click Create (name might differ slightly).
- Pin the resulting desktop shortcut to your taskbar.
Universal Alternative: Drag Site Icon
For Edge/Chrome/Firefox:
- Open the website in your browser.
- Minimize your browser window so you can see the taskbar.
- Click and hold the small icon immediately to the left of the website's address in the address bar (the padlock icon or site favicon).
- Drag this icon directly onto your taskbar and release it.
Important Considerations:

- The site must be open in your browser before using most pinning methods.
- If prompted by User Account Control when pinning, click Yes.
- Administrator rights might be required depending on your system settings.
